Explore Descanso Gardens and marvel at their “Bloom Boom,” a celebration of all nature has to offer during early spring. Be on the lookout for “Signs of Spring” markers. There you will find displays both educational and artistic. They’ll invite you to explore birds, nests, blooms, and all the signs of spring. Advance tickets are required and are available online.
Take mom to the Modern Makers Mart Mothers Day Edition happening on Saturday, May 8th from 11 am to 3 pm. This free event will feature more tasty treats, live music, locally crafted goods, a flower bouquet station, and more. Register online for this free event.
Cayton Children’s Museum hosts Cayton Creators on Saturdays in two sessions from 10:00 am to 10:45 am, and 11:00 am to 11:45 am. This event is free but pre-registration is required. While all ages are welcome, the program is currently designed for children ages 3-7.
On Friday, May 7th at 7:45 pm, catch Sonic the Hedgehog at the park, then later that night at 10:00 pm, Big Momma’s House will be shown. On Saturday, May 8th, the first showing is Jumanji: The Next Level at 7:45 pm and then Gremlins at 10:00 pm. Tickets are available online.
Walk in the park (Old LA Zoo Picnic Area) with the voices of the L.A. Choral Lab as your musical guide. This is a safe experience for you and your family. As you journey through Griffith Park, the music will change and evolve according to your precise location. Register through Eventbrite for access to SOUNDWALK any time until May 16, 2021. Each attendee must have a smartphone with the ECHOES app (Apple version, Google Play version) and headphones. You will receive complete instructions along with your digital safari guide and maps immediately upon registering.
NHM First Fridays Connected will assemble speakers for Zoom webinars alongside a dance party on YouTube. And best of all: It’s all entirely free to attend though reservations are required.
Adventure City is now open and is excited to welcome you back. Adventure City is the little theme park with attractions, games, fun, food, and more, and is great for kids of all ages. Ticket sales will be limited only to those who reside in California. Visitors are required to purchase tickets in advance and make reservation for visits. Tickets are $21.95 per person for all day play. Kids under one year old are free.
Experience The Art of the Brick, the world’s largest display of LEGO® art at California Science Center! Discover over one million LEGO bricks transformed into more than 100 sculptures. This event features a 20-foot Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton, a seven-foot tall Easter Island Moai statue and an innovative, multimedia collection of LEGO brick infused photography produced in
tandem, and much more. Tickets are $19.75 for adults, and $12.75 for kids.
Teleflora is celebrating Mom with a sidewalk chalk installation at Santa Monica Place created by children, acknowledging how much mom has selflessly put others’ needs before hers. Grab a piece of chalk and join in on the action. Participants will receive a free bouquet for mom courtesy of Teleflora. Local chalk artist Lysa Ashley will be contributing to the installation. This event is on Saturday, May 1st from 11am – 7pm.
Explore all our exhibits, including sea otters, sharks, sea jellies, frogs, and more in the Tropical, Northern, and Southern California/Baja Galleries. Advanced reservations are required and you can purchase your tickets online.
Explore the tar pits, go inside the Museum to see what paleontologists have found, and get the inside story of the La Brea Tar Pits and experience how an actual Ice Age dig site works. Advanced, timed tickets are required and are available online.
Sugar Rush is an immersive open-air experience over 40,000 square feet of pure Candytropolis! There will be no shortage of photo-ops as your walk will include vibrant colorful installations, one-of-a kind art displays, live performances, custom parade floats, and candy-powered interactions. Sugar Rush starts will continue till May 2nd. Tickets start at $30, and must be purchased online.
South Coast Botanic Garden is soaring to new heights with its upcoming butterfly experience. SOAR features tropical butterflies in a newly built pavilion. Throughout the experience you’ll see butterflies in every stage of the life cycle. You’ll have the opportunity to watch them in their natural habitat, and, if you’re lucky, have a personal encounter with one! Tickets start at $7 for toddlers, $12 for kids, and $22 for adults.
Peterson Automotive Museum has reopened with three new exhibits, and is offering free admission to health care workers and first responders for the remainder of 2021. For general public, Tickets to the museum must now be pre-purchased online at petersen.org/tickets.
Universal Studios Hollywood reopened on April 16! Tickets are on now on sale for CA residents only. Universal CityWalk and the Universal Cinema are also open.

Catch drive-in screenings outside of a this old theater in Hollywood. The American Legion Hollywood hosts up to 30 cars a night, seven days a week with films digitally projected onto a 38-foot screen and transmitted via your car radio. Reservations are required and include popcorn, soda and candy.

South Coast Botanic Gardens is open this weekend for walk or hike, but you are required to make reservations through their online system in advance so that they can control number of people that enter the garden. You are also required to wear protective face coverings during your visit, and practice social distancing.
