Gather the family and kick-off Thanksgiving Day with a brisk trot on the streets of Downtown L.A. The epic Turkey Trot is back for another year of 5k, 10k and other fun runs. Everyone gets a rockin’ trucker hat, sparkly finisher medal, and bib.

This is one race that's for everyone…even pets. Take part in the 5k and 10k run. Kiddos have their own 1k fun run. Run with the whole family and earn your slice of turkey and pie at Thanksgiving dinner later in the day. It’s all about community spirit and keeping fit together in a fun environment. There will be a Kids Fun Zone and Pre-Race Expo.

Put on your ice skating shoes on, and slide your way into thanksgiving weekend at ICE in Santa Monica. Every holiday season, Downtown Santa Monica transforms the corner of Fifth Street and Arizona Avenue into the winter wonderland known as Ice at Santa Monica, an 8,000-square-foot ice-skating rink. Admission & Skate rentals are $15. Locker Rental are $10 with $5 refund upon key return. Hot dogs, cocoa, and other snacks are available for purchase.

Santa takes his post at the Santa House at the Grove in November, and the entire property transforms into the ultimate holiday spectacle. Each day on Thanksgiving weekend and throughout the holiday season, you can enjoy a festive brass band, drummer boys, stilt walkers, visits from gingerbread men and toy soldiers, hot cocoa carts, a cappella performances and more. There is a snow fall every night at 7pm & 8pm.

Enchanted: Forest of Light is an interactive, nighttime experience unlike anything else in Los Angeles, featuring a one-mile walk through unique lighting experiences in some of the most beloved areas of Descanso Gardens. Tickets range from $28-$30 for the general public, and $23–$25 for Descanso Gardens members. For additional fee, you can have dinner with the family at Maple first, and then enter the Enchanted experience after you dine.

Visit them in Reindeer Village daily to hear fascinating facts about Santa’s sleigh-pullers and get up close for photo opportunities. On weekends, extra activities like Swazzle’s Holiday Extravaganza Puppet Show, Ice carving demonstrations courtesy of Troubled Ice (Saturdays), Craft station with make-your-own antlers and letters to Santa and Holiday songs from The Beverly Belles (Sundays) will be available at no extra charge other than the standard zoo admission.

The merriment kicks off with a star-studded pre-show concert at 5 pm, before the parade rolls down Hollywood Boulevard, along the Walk of Fame, and then back up Sunset. This timeless tradition features marching bands, seasonal floats, equestrians on horseback, character balloons and the very best in festive family entertainment. Starting on Hollywood Blvd. at Orange Drive the U-shaped parade route will travel east to Vine, south on Vine St to Sunset Blvd. and west on Sunset Blvd. back to Orange Drive.

Complete with the falling snow a live orchestra and a Christmas tree that grows, Westside Ballet’s Nutcracker both the longest running Nutcracker production in Los Angeles history and true to the tradition of George Balanchine. From the moment the lights dim, you’ll be transported with Clara to a magical world filled with a Christmas tree that grows to the ceiling, menacing mice, a dashing prince who takes her through the land of the dancing snowflakes replete with falling snow led by the shimmering Snow Queen.

Gobble gobble with the sea otters and the entire Aquarium family on Thanksgiving day. You and your family can meet over 11,000 animals from the world’s largest ocean, and savor an expanded menu of traditional Thanksgiving buffet in the Aquarium’s Café Scuba. The Aquarium is open for normal operation from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
