A workshop of a site-specific interactive theater experience in West Hollywood’s Plummer Park, Señor Plummer’s Final Fiesta celebrates, illuminates, and magnifies the life of Eugene Plummer, the original resident of West Hollywood. Told through a patchwork of tall-tales, large-scale puppets, masks, and music, Rogue Artists Ensemble electrifies Señor Plummer’s whimsical tales of early Los Angeles in a memory map of wild west duals, pirates, land-grabbing, shark-riding, epic court battles, and, of course, fiestas. Armed with only a treasure map of Señor Plummer’s mind, the adventures you’ll encounter are not always logical, but always exist in the vibrant, shifting ground for dreamers that is Los Angeles.

Fiesta La Ballona is a free signature event of the Culver City Centennial Celebration. The weekend’s festivities will feature live performances, carnival rides and games, vendor booths showcasing local groups and artisan wares, pony rides and petting zoo, food trucks, a food court, an aquacade, an interactive sustainability booth, and other special activities. The Opening Ceremony, featuring remarks by Culver City Mayor Jeffrey Cooper and a special performance by The Actors’ Gang, will occur in the Fiesta Entertainment Tent on August 25 at 6:00 pm.

The Autry’s latest exhibit is all about “play.” Featuring a fun selection of toys, games and other play things culled from the Autry’s own collection, it explores how play and toys, and their meanings, have changed since the 19th century, with a particular focus on west coast-based companies like Mattel, Disney and Wham-O. The exhibit is composed for four sections – “Go Outside!,” “Learning to Be a Grown-up,” “Make Believe,” and “Game Changer” – and each one has a special interactive element to them, from a dress-up stage or video games.

When Max's lighthearted prank on his high-school principal finally gets his longtime crush, Roxanne, to notice him, he asks her on a date. Max's trouble at school convinces Goofy that he and the boy need to bond over a cross-country fishing trip like the one he took with his dad when he was Max's age, which throws a kink in his son's plans to impress Roxanne.
