7 Things to Do With Kids This Weekend

Are you ready for end of the school year? We are, and we are here to help you celebrate, and have fun with your kids this summer. Here is what is happening in and around LA this weekend:

1. TheBlu: An Underwater Experience

Swim alongside manta rays, angler fish, and a blue whale – in virtual reality! Wearing a VR headset, you'll embark on an incredible underwater journey to parts of the ocean few people get to see first-hand. No swimsuit required. In this high-tech, immersive experience, you'll explore a sunken ship and the sealife around it. Next, you'll walk on a teeming coral reef, where you can interact with sea anemones and jellyfish. The journey ends with a deep dive down to the ocean floor, where you check out a whale skeleton and bioluminescent fish – which means they glow in the dark!

2. Family Bird Walk

Join experienced birder and naturalist for a fun morning of finding and watching fine-feathered friends. The walks are open to all ages (children must be accompanied by an adult) and all levels of birding knowledge. Bring your binoculars, and comfortable walking shoes.

3. Knott's Soak city

Knott's Soak City Park's newly expended 15 acre property is now open for some serious fun. It now includes 2 new water towers, and 7 new water slides. From all the new seven story plunge of shore to the soak and splash of Gremmie Lagoon, the slides and attractions are sure to please every water lover!

The best deal for tickets to Knott's Soak City is to purchase a Knott's Berry Farm Season Pass. With the Season Pass, you can visit the park all year long with no black out dates. You can also purchase single day Knott's Soak City discount tickets on for $32 per person.

4. Amazing Animals

Animals come in all shapes and sizes, and they all have an incredible story to tell! Join Kidspace to explore the amazing world of our animal friends by meeting all the Kidspace Critters, from awesome arthropods to mighty mammals. Get a closer look at kookiest animals, help feed native butterflies, and transform yourself into your favorite animal by making animal masks and finger puppets. Also, don’t miss a very special demonstration at 1:00pm!

5. Dockweiler Fun-A-Palooza

​Dockweiler Youth Center hosts a day of family fun! Enjoy a petting zoo, bounce houses, rides, face painters, balloon artists, carnival games, camp activities, and live entertainment from the Beach Cities Swing Band. Learn all about the exciting recreational programming at the DYC coming this summer!

6. Balboa Strawberry Festival

Held in June of each year, the Balboa Strawberry Festival is a celebration of summer, food and fun, held in Encino on Ventura Blvd. The Festival is centered around local residents’ love for delicious, California grown strawberries. Featuring tons of strawberry themed food and drink, plus live music, dancing, rides and games for the whole family. This is the PERFECT way to celebrate summer!

7. The Pie Bake á la Beverly Hills & Piesta

This annual event features a pie baking contest, and lots of entertaining pie-themed activities including Mike the Juggler, pie making for kids, pie eating contest for adults and kids, rolling the dough, and sifting for treasures. Pony rides and a petting zoo will also be available for a nominal fee. The Pie Bake á la Beverly Hills & Piesta is featured in conjunction with the weekly Sunday Farmers’ Market.
